On Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, Andrew and Jacki met for the first time. After a year of hearing about each other through their mutual amazing friend, Brian (also a groomsman!), we were finally introduced at Faegan's Cafe & Pub in Syracuse, NY. We spent hours sitting in a booth talking... Knowing that Andrew loved music, Jacki tried to impress Andrew by talking about the band she had seen that weekend at the New York State Fair (and conveniently left out the part about loving Cher and the Spice Girls) and Andrew kept thinking that Jacki -- dressed in a white button down shirt and black skirt -- looked like a teacher. (See, we remember that night well!)
We continued to hang out during that first semester of our senior year, but kept telling each other that we "didn't want to have a relationship." Jacki's sister even came to visit at one point, and when she went home, she told their mom, Shelley, all about Andrew. Shelley then called Jacki and asked, "Why aren't you dating this boy?!"
Over winter break, Jacki and Andrew realized they really missed each other. So when Jacki found out that Andrew's band was playing a show the week before classes started, Jacki drove back to Syracuse early (on January 13, 2006). As she was turning the corner of Ackerman Avenue, the street they both lived on, Jacki called Andrew and told him to come over. Andrew's response? "But the Cheerios I'm eating will get soggy!" (Jacki still gives him trouble for that.) The smart man that he is, Andrew ended up leaving his cereal and came down to meet Jacki at her house. She ran out of her car and hugged him. And from that moment on, we were inseparable.
Our wedding is October 13, 2012. Think there's a pattern with 13s here?
